Episode #96
What do I need to do if I decide to get rid of my current computer support company? Mainly for security if they are disgruntled. I have a small business with servers and workstations. I realize I should change my passwords, but is there anything else I should do?

That’s an interesting question. It’s true that an untrustworthy tech could put backdoors on your systems. The best way to check for this is to hire a new support company to check for traces of the old. Change your passwords, of course, but also do a thorough scan for trojan horses and rootkits. Change your router password and disable WAN administration. Make sure you don’t have any open ports on your router (use ShieldsUP at http://grc.com) and turn of UPNP so malware on your system can’t open ports automatically.
