Episode #94
I am having problems with an installation of Firefox. I have this band across the bottom of my browser that is blank white space with a small red arrow to the bottom left of the white space. Also sometimes Firefox will just hang or not launch at all. I would have to restart windows to remedy that. I have tried to uninstall wipe the folder and reinstall to no avail.

This could be one of a couple of different things, but I’m guessing it’s related to an add-on for the Firefox browser. Apparently there was at least one spyware-ish toolbar that exhibited this behaviour (especially after upgrading Firefox from 1.5 to 2.0) — look in your Add-ons for things that you don’t want, and start removing them.
There was also an add-on available called “Download Embedded” that allowed users to view and save embedded video on a page - you just need to click on the red arrow and choose what you’d like to do. This arrow only appears when it detects embedded video, and it shouldn’t have a big white space…considering the other stability problems you’re having I’m certainly suspecting another add-on that’s misbehaving.
