Any DV camcorder is going to give you the best quality - even a cheap camcorder is going to offer better optics than the fanciest USB Webcam. And Firewire is a better way to transfer video in real time than USB. However the popular drivers WebcamDV and DVDriver only work with XP at this time. Until they do, I’d stick with the Logitech P9000 USB cam - it’s the best inexpensive USB camera available.
If you have FireWire on your computer already, one of the best-quality webcams you can get is actually a DV camera, if you have one — the quality is already top-notch, and chance are the driver will already be on your system if you’re capturing video for video editing purposes.
