Choosing A Laptop

I am being offered a laptop up to 4000$ and I am really confused about which one I should choose. I do game quite a bit and I also enjoy dabbling in some Video editing and sound recording. I mostly considering one of the Dell XPS laptops as they give me the hardware to run games and such. I am also considering one of the Macbook Pros. I do want a mid to high range laptop with at least 2 gigs of RAM a 256 video card and at least 250GB hard drive. I am just curious which of my choices would be the best or if you could recommend one for me.

If you like to game, I think your choice should clearly lean towards a Windows-based machine with gaming-friendly hardware…even though you can run Windows natively on the Macbook Pro, it’s still not the ideal platform for performance gaming. You can add video editing fairly easy with the purchase of Adobe Premiere Elements. On the other hand, if you were leaning more towards higher-end video, you’d definitely want to aim for the 17-inch Macbook Pro instead, with Final Cut Express installed.
