Episode #87
Hi, I’m going to buy the new Macbook Pro soon, and considering it’s pretty expensive, I really really don’t want it to get stolen. But I am a student, and I do have to take it with me to class and all, so every day, there are more and more chances for my laptop to get lost/stolen, and i’m wondering what i can do abt that. I heard abt this program called: “LoJack for Laptops (Three-Year Term) by Absolute Software”, and I love the system, but if someone steals the laptop, and just removes the HD, i’m done for. A security cable is useful, but when the laptop is in the backpack, the cable isn’t that useful anymore… Any GPS system, that is hardware based to retrive a stolen laptop? Thanks

There’s an even better system than Lojack that’s specifically designed for Macintosh notebooks. Undercover, http://www.orbicule.com/undercover/ will help you get your laptop back. And if you’re worried about data security, turn on FileVault in the Security preference pane.
