Episode #86
I have a HD PVR. I would like to get shows I’ve recorded off of the PVR and onto DVD or a hard drive. I want to keep the widescreen aspect and 5.1 Dolby audio. What are my options?

In general, PVRs are designed so that content recorded onto them cannot be moved from them in high quality — that’s largely because of the influence of the content makers (movie studios, TV studios), who are worried that high-quality digital versions of their programs will cause them to lose money, if it’s easily redistributable. So for the most part your choice is to play it back through the analogue outputs, and re-capture it on another recording device. What a pain.
