Episode #85

Logitech’s Harmony Remote

I have a Kenwood KRF-V9333d receiver, which comes with a large remote control to control all the equipment attached to it. Well this has been dropped once too often and is now having problems, and I am thinking of replacing it with a Logitech Harmony 1000i http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/remotes/universal_remotes/devices/373&... Universal remote and I was wondering if there are any comments about it.

I haven’t gotten my hands on the new Harmony 1000 yet, but if it’s anything like the previous Harmony remotes, it should be reasonably easy to program using the web-based interface, and provided your home theatre components aren’t too wacky or obscure, you should be able to set them up automatically with no real problems. And remember, even if you have something that doesn’t appear in the Harmony database (submitted by users of the remotes), you can always program it yourself if you can squeeze just a bit more life out of your current remote.
