Show Notes: Episode 84

  • Magic Jamming in the Garage
    Founder, Pixel Corps

Many of us love doodling with Garageband but some don’t know where to even get started. Well, Apple has added a key feature to their new Garageband that addresses this head on. It’s called “Magic Garageband” and it’s a system that lets you gather your own digital band. You can choose from a few genre’s like rock, latin, or blues. From there, you can decide who is playing what (you can choose different riffs and instruments). All the choices in a genre work together. You can also add your own instrument and play along. When you are done, it will build a Garageband project for you based on your choices (which you can then edit further).

It’s a little limited but really fun to play with. What’s really exciting is what could be possible if Apple allows others to add instruments and genres to the tool. You would really have an incredible creation tool at that point.

The concept is simple: call up a map of an area you run, walk or cycle and measure the distance. Save your route and blog about it.

    - enter an address and load a map of your area
    - click along your route to draw a path; distance is calculated for you
    - see a graph showing the elevation change
    - add a descriptive “point of interest” marker
    - add a photo from your flicker account
    - save your route, get a unique URL and blog it or email it to others
    - search for routes
