  • Inside ReadyBoost on Vista. How to know if your USB key is fit to boost Vista performance.

    To use Ready Boost on Vista you need a USB key with the following specs:

    1) 230 MB free space minimum
    2) 2.5 Mb/s read speed
    3) 1.75/s write speed

    If a key fails you can see why by going to the Event Viewer as follows
    - Type Event Viewer in Start menu search
    - Click it when it appears to launch it
    - Click Applications and Service Logs > Microsoft > Windows > ReadyBoost > Operational
    - Logs of failed ReadyBoost drive connections are shown in the centre panel.
