Viewing a Clock with Limited User Account in XP

Hey Leo, I hope you can help me because this is driving me crazy, I recently formatted my PC as I hadn’t done it in a couple years I figured it was about time. I had previously been running XP in administrator mode which I now know is a no-no. So when I set up my computer again I set up the "Run as user" feature, so I can be in my limited account, give XP my administrator password and install it that way. This is working decently well, but there is one issue I cannot get around and it is driving me crazy. I cannot view my calender! Every time I click on it it tells me I do not have the privilege to change the settings. I don’t want to change it, I just want to see it. The only way I can check the upcoming dates, is to log out and switch users. Do you have any advice? Thanks

As important as it is for security to run as a limited user, it’s often frustrating to do so in XP. (It’s much better in Vista, fortunately.) The particular problem you refer to is a LUA bug (see http://blogs.msdn.com/aaron_margosis/archive/2006/02/06/525455.aspx) which Microsoft has never fixed.

Probably the best solution is to install a program that doesn’t have this problem. My favorite is TClockEX. http://www.rcis.co.za/dale/tclockex/
