Episode #67
I have shot film on my video 8 Sony handycam in NTSC format. I captured the video using Pinnacle Studio Plus 10.7 software in PAL format and have edited it and burned a DVD using the Pinnacle make movie section. All went well there and the DVD is viewable on all players that I tried. Now I need to burn the same file in NTSC format to send to our relis in the USA. Pinnacle says the only way to do this is to recapture and reedit the whole thing. Is there another way? I have Nero and InfraRecorder but I can’t figure out how to do it. I have a lot of this work producing a DVD from one file and burning a DVD in each format. CAN YOU HELP?

There are three formats for broadcast television PAL, NTSC, and SECAM. They differ in the resolution and framerate. PAL has a higher resolution and lower frame rate. I’m not sure if Studio can do it, but there are programs that can convert your edited video without recapturing. It sounds like Studio makes you choose at the beginning of a project. Programs like VLC can read the DVD, convert it to an NTSC file for reburning. Read up on your options here: http://www.jakeludington.com/ask_jake/20041219_how_do_i_convert_a_pal_dv...
