Using my digital shaw box I frequently watch US TV stations. I see promos to view the episode off the web site. However when I go there I am told the content is only available if the viewer is in the US. Is there any to in effect mask my IP and fool the host into believing I am in the US?

You need to use a US based proxy server. You’ll find a list of these at http://www.publicproxyservers.com. Change your settings in your browser to surf through a US based proxy server and you’ll appear to be coming from within the US.
