Episode #50
I recently got the Ubuntu from the company, I installed it, lost my files, which I’m fine with but a little bummed. So, my first question is there any way to get my files back? And my second question is, is it possible to get wireless? For some reason it’s not working for me. I’ve searched the help menu and nothing worked. Should I wait until my sister moves out and the computer is moved downstairs, or is there a way to get my wireless working? I am using Linux wireless G by the way.

If you installed Ubuntu on top of your existing Windows partition, you’re probably out of luck. In all likelihood you re-formatted the drive and your files are gone.
Getting wireless working with Ubuntu is a little tricky but can definitely be done. You’ll need to know the maker of your Wi-Fi chipset (Broadcom, Airgo, Atheros, etc.) and the name of your Ubuntu distro. Googling both should give you instructions for getting the card working - either using ndiswrapper or existing Linux drivers.
