Episode #42
I have been using a USB HDD as my backup drive. It crashed and I am trying to use free Data Recovery software to recover important documents. But when the HDD crashed there are some bad sectors and the software JAMS when it comes to the bad sectors. What can I do to recover my important data?
Steve, Newcastle, NSW
You can’t recover anything while the drive is in the USB enclosure - the USB interface hides the drive from utilities. Take the drive out and put into your computer. The best utility is Spinrite from www.grc.com - no free utility is going to do much.
