Episode #32
A while ago , while printing with my old HP 3820 printer , I changed my printing preference from draft to the highest resolution setting in order to print a glossy 8X10 . A windows message warned me (as it had done several times prior ) that this change may be permanent . Well …. this time it was a permanent change . I tried everything that I could think of and finally gave up and bought a new printer ( Canon Pixma 6320 ) . I'm still stuck in the highest resolution setting but now I’m going through enough ink to drain my bank account . I need to be able to lower these settings for printing regular documents , as my family likes to print e-mails etc. and the ink (photo cartridge) is very expensive for this printer .
found out today , that there were a couple of jobs still pending for the HP printer ( I thought I’d removed it when I installed the newer Canon unit ) so I cancelled those jobs and re-installed the software for the Canon printer … I still cannot change my printing preferences ! I’ve been getting a red flag indication that this task cannot be completed .
Please help me before I go bankrupt replacing photo ink cartridges .

I’ve never heard of a problem quite like this. You need to go into the print settings for your Canon and try some lower quality settings. The Canon doesn’t have “draft” settings per se, however. Ink jet printers are not particularly economical.
