Creating a DVD from Tivo

I have created a DVD by downloading from my TIVO DVR to my computer to recover memory on the DVR. I want to play this back on my DVD player tied to my TV. I get an error message when I do this on my DVD player. Looking at the forums at TIVO there does not seem to be a solution. Is this because TIVO uses a proprietary protocol? Do you know of a way to do what I’m trying to do? Enjoy your programs. Glad your back on KGO.

The easiest way to do this is to use Tivo2Go - Tivo’s own solution - or to digitize the video from the analog outputs of the Tivo. The data on Tivo’s hard drive is encrypted so you can’t burn it directly.

When you’re burning media files of any type to a DVD it’s important to remember that you have to burn the whole project as a DVD movie, and not simply try copying the media files as is onto a data DVD — DVD players generally don’t know what to do with such files, especially if they’re proprietary files, like you’d get from a TiVo player. What you need to do is bring the files into a DVD movie authoring program that understands those particular files, like Sonic’s MyDVD. Then you should be able to play those DVDs on other DVD players.
