Episode #182
As nice as it is to have an external hard drive to back up to, it is only as safe as the environment that it lives in. Would it be possible to make things WAY more secure by having my drive at a buddies place and his at mine? We are both running Macs with Leopard.

Warren’s notes:
If you move hard drives around to a different location, then that location’s security becomes your main concern. Granted, if someone were to physically steal the drive or some physical harm came to it your data would survive and vice versa, but if you really want security go with a third party solution like Amazon’s JungleDisk or .Mac. Part of why you pay for those services is the redundancy and security they bring to the table.
