Episode #177
Hi Leo! I’m a family doctor in north west tasmania. I want to know how to multi boot windows xp so I don’t have to kill heaps of processes when I’m about to play games! It would be nice to get a choice of boot options when I restart the computer.

This is a great technique pioneered by Black Viper at http://blackviper.com. Windows allows you to create boot profiles which you can choose from when you start your machine. He suggests creating a gaming profile with minimal services running. In XP, open the System control panel, click the Hardware tab, then press the Hardware Profiles button. Copy your existing profile - you might want to create Default and Gaming profiles for example. Now you can assign services (click Start→Run and enter services.msc) to each profile. Black Viper explains which services are unneeded in the gaming profile.
