The sites that offer free online backup usually limit it to a fairly small size hoping you’ll end up paying for more. One good site is Box.net. They give you 1GB free with a 10MB file size limit. iDrive offers 2GB. The most I know of is Xdrive, which offers 5GB free.
You can also use the virtually unlimited storage of GMail to save files - just email them to a free gmail account.
Microsoft has introduced a new service called SkyDrive that may end up offering a lot of storage free. Currently it’s limited to 1GB.
