I have recently purchased a playstaion 3 and want to get all my media from my computer to my ps3, I want to know what the best program to use any file format problems, I may have. Also a second question is that my internet keeps cutting in and out which cause download problems and online gaming problems.

Sony’s PS3 has excellent support for a variety of media formats, even H.264 and DiVX. I doubt you’ll find anything it can’t play, but if you do it’s easier to convert it before moving the file over than trying to add codecs to a closed system like the PS3. PS3 Video 9 is a free program that can convert most anything to a PS3 compatible format.
The big trick to getting the streaming going is making sure you don’t have any security software blocking file-sharing between computers, and that you have the directories set up for file-sharing on your computer. Temporarily turn off any firewall software you may have running on your computer (including the Windows firewall) to see if that makes your files visible.

You know that container in the back of your fridge that has the sardines in it…how long ago did it get put back there? If you’re not sure, you can let the Digital Day Counter tell you. Press the button on the front for a while and it’ll reset to zero, and from there it’ll count the days for you. Because food comes in different forms, the Digital Day Counter comes with suction cups, magnetic attachments, or a band attachment. At $10 for a pair, they’re pretty cheap (and of course they’re reusable), though the more thrifty may want to skip this and just right the date on the container with a marker.

This hip food site, owned by CNET, serves its content like a five-course multimedia meal, with audio and video, photos, blogs and boards. The recipes and party tips, cooking guides, primers and gear reviews are skewed to a younger audience than, say, Epicurious and other mainstays of the genre. The articles cover food, food culture and food trends; there’s a section on cocktail party canapés (“Killer Apps”) and an in-depth look at milk (“Mapping the Mustache: a Chow taste test”). The video section includes dozens of tutorials, from how to cure salmon to how to butterfly chicken to how to open a bottle of wine; one feature clip shows a Chow reporter asking random people on the street, “what’s for dinner?” Photo montages like that of Delhi street food are listed along with podcasts of chef interviews. The Chow messages boards are from Chowhound, a site that started up in the mid-90s and has been inviting anybody anywhere to post a restaurant review ever since. Now that it’s also a CNET property, Chowhound is doing its business here, and has brought its entire archive along with it.
