how do I transfer photos and files from ibook 1999 to iMAC 2007? Currently using an SD with SD reader and too slow…

Sean’s note: If you had the newer vintage of iBook it would have been much easier — you could press the power button on the iBook and immediately press T and hold it until you see the Apple logo — then connect the iBook to the iMac using a six-pin to six-pin FireWire cable, and the iBook will appear in your iMac’s finder as a removable drive! This is called Target Disk Mode. Then you could copy the files over as if the iBook was an external hard drive.
Unfortunately, we’re stuck with the older candy-coloured iBook, which only had USB onboard….and it was the slower USB 1.1 at that. Your best bet may be an external USB hard drive — they’re relatively inexpensive these days, and after you’ve used the drive to copy the files over, you can use it as a backup device or a Time Machine drive for your new iMac.

If you don’t have a personal trainer, keeping on an exercise and diet regimen can be a bit challenging. The Mio Motiva is a trainer in a watch format…kind of. You’re actually your own trainer with the Mio Motiva: you enter in your weight, enter in your calorie intake, and interact with the watch when you exercise (press down on the two sensor points on the face of the watch to measure your heart rate). The downside is that it requires a lot of user involvement in the process, and if you’re not truly dedicated the whole process will fail. But the Motiva also doubles as a regular watch too, so if you fall off the plan at least you’ll still know what time it is.
