Episode #165
I recently made my first home movie using Windows Movie Maker. It was extremely easy and I was suprised how good the final product was. However having seen what it can do I am left with an even bigger list of what it can’t do. Volume controls, video and audio crossovers, increased text/credit control, etc. I looked an Sony Vegas and understand it’s basic functionality but it seems almost a little too high end. I am looking for something more powerful than Windows Movie Maker, but easier to use with more canned DVD menus. I took a quick look at Adobe Premiere on their web site and it seems a little “simple” as well. Maybe I’m being too critical? Any other suggestions?

Sean’s note: Your best bang for the buck is Adobe’s Premiere Elements, which you can get by itself for $99 or in a bundle with Photoshop Elements for $149. The program offers a lot of the same functionality found in the high-end Premiere Pro, but with all of the professional utilities stripped out, and with a more user-friendly interface.
