What is the easiest way to convert to ipod touch? Some utilities i have tried take forever to convert a movie and then convert to ipod touch. Do you reccommend Roxio toast utility? or Popcorn by roxio, or is there a good free converter like handbrake. I tried this it takes to long to convert, like several hours. I don’t have time for this but I want to load movies on my i-pod since i-tunes won’t sell movie download to Canada. Or is there some sight in Canada to purchase movies for the ipod touch? I watch your show and have not heard anyone talk about the lack of movies for the video ipods,is apple going to offer movies?

Sean’s note: No matter which method you choose, it’s going to take a while to convert video from a DVD to an iPod-friendly format — video transcoding is a heavy-duty number-crunching tasks, and the process brings a lot of computers to their knees, unfortunately. You’re just going to have to grit your teeth and bear it until Apple brings movies to the Canadian store….and it’s certainly looking more positive that it’s going to happen, in the wake of the introduction of the TV shows to the Canadian store.

For those who want more from their phone than just the basics, there’s the smartphone category — not only are they fully functional phones, but they have the ability to do full text input and work with stripped-down applications. While the Blackberry would seem to be the reigning champ in this category, Windows Mobile devices continue to be released, including this update on the Motorola Q. The use of Windows for an operating system is good in terms of syncing with a Windows-based computer — they get along very well. And between Motorola and Microsoft, some of the issues that were found in the original version of the Q — such as the inability to adjust the volume of the phone WHILE it was ringing — have been solved with this newer version. But ultimately it’s still running on Windows, and it forces users to interact with the phone in a Windows way, which when it comes down to it, is not to everyone’s tastes for a portable device. One big strike against this one is the proprietary charging connector; Motorola has been so good about switching other phones over to the mini USB connector, so this move to a non-standard part is very disappointing.Shiny
