i am a film editor, making movies in final cut studio 1. i wish to add copy protection to the DVD’s that i make and burn using DVD studio Pro. How can i do this without paying anything? or having to download large files (i’m on dial up).

Interesting. Most people ask us how to remove copy protection, not add it! There are two problems with this. First, copy protection requires an authoring drive - they run several thousand dollars: http://www.cyperceptions.com/products/detail.asp?num=168 - then you’ll need to license the copy protection from Macrovision. That’s also very expensive. And after all that, any kid can still copy it with free software.

While Samsung has already released its combo Blu-ray/HD-DVD player, the company is still releasing standalone players in its original format choice, Blu-ray. This player is an update to the BD-P1200 player, and it largely provides tweaks to the previous design, especially better audio support. It still supports 1080p output, and it boots up far faster than the original Blu-ray players, but it does still have a few of the quirks that the new high definition players sport, like the occasional sluggishness when moving from one part of a menu into another…and this one also is a bit noisy when the pickup changes position. But at this price point — especially since you can find it for less than $300 on sale occasionally — it’s getting a bit hard to resist the call of high def.Shiny
