Episode #145
I’ve had a couple of digital cameras in the past six years and have been looking at digital photo frames for the last couple of years, both for myself and as a gift for my father. I’ve been waiting for them to improve in resolution past 600×480dpi, and to come down in price. There are now a lot of different brands coming onto the market, and I’d appreciate advice as to what specifications should I be looking for. Is the current resolution of most frames (800×600) good enough? I’m also interested in any knowing about the value of other features, such as wireless connections, remote controls, subscription-based internet services, .mpg and DivX functionality and whether they are worth the extra money.

This is a great time to buy a digital photo frame - they’re dropping in price while increasing in quality. If you want wireless connectivity without a subscription fee I recommend the DSI MF-8104, http://www.dsicentral.com/products/MF8104/. It’s 800×600 and for an 8×10 image and that’s all you need. It plays WMV video files, as well.
