Episode #13

Running OS X on Windows

I have a computer that runs with Windows XP and wanted to know if there were any programs on the market to allow me to run MacOS X with it, such as Parallels on the Mac. One that would allow me to also run Linux would be preferred as well.

Not legally, no, and that’s because MacOS is legally only allowed to be used on Mac hardware. When it was announced that OS X was going to be made Intel-compatible, there were some developer copies that leaked, that were soon hacked to run on every-day Intel machines previously designed to run Windows or Linux, but technically those who downloaded and tried it were breaking the law…and because of the way OS X was written, it didn’t even run very well anyhow. There’s probably a way to hack the current version of OS X to run on non-Apple hardware, but not only do we not recommend it, you could get into serious trouble for doing so.
