AIR is cross operating system desktop runtime that allows developer to use Flash or HTML to build desktop applications for Windows, Mac or Linux.
Cool Air features above and beyond the browser:
Icons
Files
Offline
Local database
Custom Chrome
Using HTML, Javascript and CSS you can build compelling desktop applications and re-use the skills and code that millions of developers have today. AIR apps can also be built in Flex or Flash which give you access to a power development that is ideally suited to building rich experiences that leverage animation, video, audio and very immersive graphics.

The new iPod Touch is a wonderland for those with a working knowledge of Mac OS X and/or Unix, because a stripped down version of OS X is exactly what’s running on the new iPod models. Not only does that mean that people with the know-how can get into the guts of the iPod, but it also means a bunch of new programs designed for the iPod. Combined with the built-in WiFi networking, that means a broad range of net-enabled applications

JailbreakMe
jailbreakme.com
The first steap to hacking your ipod is to “Jailbreak” it — in other words, to alter some of the code onboard the iPod to allow users to install their own applications. The first step in Jailbreaking your iPod is by pointing your iPod’s built-in web browser to a website that contains the known TIFF exploit — by going there you open up a hole that the iJailbreak software can walk right through to install a springboard and installer application — after those are installed, and after a couple of reboots of the iPod, it’s hacked and ready for you to install other applications. The Installer app comes with a number of pre-made applications, and provides a back door for people to install their own, if they’re so inclined.
Stumbler
Conceited Software
Stumbler is a program that lists the various WiFi access points within range, and shows relevant information about them. If you’re in the field and looking for more information about which access points are the best choice to connect to, this program definitely helps.
Mobile RSS
Mobile Studio
Though entering feed URLs manually is a real pain, once you have them entered, you can use the Mobile RSS application to read feeds from your favourite websites. No configuration of the specs here at this point, but it’s a nice start.

Remember those old puzzles where you slide tiles around? This is the virtual version. It’s great in concept: tilt your iPod in the direction you want the tiles to go, and the game will ready the information from your motion sensors and move the tiles appropriately. It’s not quite as responsive as it should be to make the game work as it should but it’s a great proof of concept. It would be nice if you could also move the tiles using the touch interface.
Lights Off
Lucas Newman + Adam Betts
This one DOES use the touch interface and it’s insanely addictive. It consists of a series of squares representing lights. When you touch any square it changes the state of not only that light but the ones that are directly touching it in vertical or horizontal orientation (but not diagonal). The goal: turn them all off. It’s harder than it sounds.
iWoman
Nullriver Software
The name of this application may not be the most accurate — it’s essentially a bit of software that allows women to track their monthly cycle when the next cycle will begin. It’s fairly simple but it’s a good way to keep a running diary (for medical reasons perhaps) or to plan for the future (for people trying to conceive perhaps).
