Episode #117

Organising Digital Music

Hi Leo and doods! OK, I have a home network that has over the years grown to 2 desktops, a server, 2 laptops and a PS3! I live with my son and we are both into music and have ripped many CD’s over the years on basically all the computers in the house. I have found it really, REALLY hard to find any software that can help me organise all the music into one place (hard drive) and take care of duplicates etc. Do you know of anything other than manual hard work to accomplish this? It must be a common problem these days you would think. Well thanks for any help you can give and love the show man!

This is what I did - I bought a big external hard drive and went from machine to machine collecting all the files on each. If you use a synchronization program like Microsoft’s Synctoy or Centered Systems’ Second Copy you’ll minimize duplication.
