    How to make your toy gun a lethal weapon on camera.
    Quick and dirty editing effects to bring a gunfight to life.
    -Composite a muzzle flash over footage.

    Stock muzzle flashes and goodies available free at .detonationfilms.com/

    -Remove a few frames of the footage immediately after the flash enhance “recoil”. Creates a small jump cut.

    -Using a matte bring up the exposure on nearby objects that would be affected by the flash.

    -Add a spent bullet casing for extra fun

    -Vary the gunshot sound effect between each round or it sounds fake.

    Actors:

    Have the actor make a distinct snap of the wrist as recoil.

    This recoil will be sped up to seem more realistic by removing frames.

    - The actor should look “intense” when shooting, this helps sell it.

    - Don’t make the sound effect with your mouth when you shoot.
