  • Firewall Leaktesting
    Security Expert. www.grc.com

I created the first Personal Firewall Leaktest, now there are dozens. But what do they all do? How do they work? What do they test? What does it mean that ALL personal firewalls FAIL at least some of the leaktests that have been written? Leo and I will discuss the topic Firewall Leaktesting. We show charts of leaktest performance, and talk about whether or not users should be concerned if their personal firewall is “leaky”.

  • Use Data Visualizations to Segment Records
    www.mrexcel.com

Excel 2007 offers amazing new data visualization tools such as icon sets, data bars, and color scales.

Data bars are tiny cell-sized bar charts that can be applied to a range of numbers.

Color scales allow you to apply a gradient to a range of numbers; think largest numbers in green, smallest numbers in red

Icon sets allow you to apply traffic light icons to a range of numbers.

In the example on the show:
Apply a red-yellow-green icon set to column A
Apply a cell-phone power bar to column C
    Apply checkmarks to column E
Filter the dataset to show only green and yellow in A
Filter to show only checkmarks in E.
Sort to bring all the best power bars to the top of C.
