Episode #101
My wife and I use 2 computers (different offices)at home. With our old XP machines, no problems - we used a D-Link wireless router and a USB adapter (D-Link) with cradle in my office (somewhat difficult to run hardwire cable). Everything was very operational. Then we upgraded to a pair of newer desktops (both HP) running VISTA. Some problems with them, but managed to upgrade them to models with 2 GB RAM. My big problem is that I cannot get rid of the message “AirGCFG.exe - Entry Point Not Found. The procedure entry point apsSearchInterface could not be located in the dynamic library wlanapi.dll”. The D-Link help desk and HP support have given me numerous solutions, all centered around removing the d-link driver, because VISTA requires that you use its utility for wireless management. Most of their solutions are too complicated (such as removing the driver from the Windows registry - a somewhat scary procedure for someone just beyond being a novice). Do you have any easy solutions? Do I just put up with it? The D-Link connection is actually working well, in spite of the added message that it isn’t - both messages only appear when I start up the desktop. Would I be better off replacing the wireless adaptor with a VISTA compatible device, or do all adaptors have the same problem? Enjoy your show - and wish I had paid more attention to your advice re XP vs VISTA. Would love to appear on the show, but don’t have a netcam yet! Cheers!

Uninstall the D-link software. Get rid of it, you don't need it.
